Catholic Identity

The Gospel values of faith and justice are the core principles at St Mary's in the school's religious curriculum.

The Source of Life:

The Source of Life Curriculum is the document used by all Catholic schools in the Sandhurst diocese. The content of the Source of Life document is organised into the following strands: God, Jesus Christ, Church, Scripture, Christian Life, Sacraments, Religion and Society.

Non-Catholic families who enrol their children at St. Mary’s need to understand the distinctive nature, identity and purpose of a Catholic school and support the mission and vision of St. Mary’s School. In supporting the religious life of the school, the most fundamental partnerships are those with parents/guardians and with the local catholic parish. An example of active partnerships is seen in the preparation of children celebrating the sacraments, which is a parish celebration.

Sacramental Program:

At St Mary’s we follow the diocesan Sacramental Program, Steps in Faith - Sacraments of Christian Initiation. The program is run as a partnership between school, parish and home.  At St. Mary’s all children make the Sacrament of  Reconciliation in Year Three, the Sacrament of Eucharist in Year Four and the Sacrament of Confirmation either in Year Five or Six.
